SHIPs GALLEY

Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church has been preparing and serving meals in SHIPs Galley at St. John's Church, in Somerville, New Jersey, for more than twenty years.
SHIP, Samaritan Homeless Interim Program, is an interfaith-based volunteer organization that provides emergency interim services to disadvantaged residents of Somerset County.
SHIPs Galley serves up to 75 luncheon meals three times a week, plus picnic lunches an additional two days during the summer, to anyone who comes through its doors. Mt. Horeb's SHIPs Crew, led by Mt. Horeb parishioner Judy Fairless (pictured sixth from left), is responsible for one service per month.  Funds and groceries to prepare the meals are donated by Mt. Horeb parishioners and SHIPs Crew members. For more information on volunteering with SHIPs Crew or to donate funds or groceries, please contact Judy Fairless (wildcat8@optonline.com).

Star Fish Dinners
Four times per year, on a Monday evening, Mt Horeb congregants and others head to the Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield to prepare and serve a hot meal for anyone who needs one.

Appalachia Service Project
The Mt. Horeb United Methodist Youth Group along with adults from our church and community spend one week each summer volunteering with Appalachia Service Project.  Last year the group traveled with ASP to West Virginia and this year will be visiting Tennessee to make housing there warm, safe and dry.  Visit our ASP Mission Trip page for additional details.

Drives and Donations
At all times, we collect items for the Somerset Foodbank, toiletries for Safe and Sound, and items for UMCOR flood buckets

Scouting

Mt. Horeb UMC is proud to sponsor Warren Boy Scouts Troop 228.  These outstanding young men have volunteered many hours to Mt. Horeb UMC and the greater Warren community.

Several Girl Scout troops also use Codington Hall as a meeting space.
